Walking and Cycling Trail along the Arno river

The Arno river flows from the Mount Falterona in the Casentino area of the Appennines to initially the south. Near Arezzo the river turns west and flows through the provinces of Arezzo, Florence (passing below the Ponte Vecchio)  and Pisa into the Ligurian Sea at the Marina di Pisa. With a lenght of 241 kilometers it is the largest river in Tuscany.

In 2012 the authorities of the Tuscany Region took the initiative to develop a walking and cycling path on the banks of the Arno rivier (Ciclopista dell’Arno-Sentiero). Together with different sideways to local destinations the Cicloplista offers approximately 270 kilometers of walking and cycling along the Arno river.

The Ciclopista passes Borgo La Casa nearby which makes it convenient to make a start at the concourse in either direction.
