Jan and Ria Buné bought the old farmhouse “La Casa” with 36 ha of land on a hillside of the Casentino valley in 2003.
The farmhouse dates back to the 18th century and has a long history as a home to families who have lived there for several generations. The farm is located at a particular point in the valley: the land of the property is locatd in three different municipalities: Poppi, Bibbiena and Ortignano Raggiolo and borders the Arno river flowing to Florence and Pisa.
In 2003 the farmhouse was in decline and uninhabitable. From 2003 to 2008 we consulted with the municipalities involved on the contemplated restoration of the old farmhouse and annexes. In 2008, we obtained the required permits. During the years 2008 to 2011, the restoration took place and the old farmhouse was transformed into a spacious Tuscany style family home with two guesthouses, now also used as holiday homes.
We have worked passionately, with an eye for detail, during the restoration to create a stylish ‘borgo’ with the original look and feel of ‘La Casa’. We (and our family) have experienced that ‘the journey towards the end result’ was indeed a joyful time. That made the realization of a ‘dream home under the Tuscan sun’ a wonderful memory for us and our family.
We invite you to enjoy the unique location in the Casentino valley and the hospitality of the Casa Quattro and Casa Sei homes at ‘Borgo La Casa’.
